SharePoint and outlook sync query RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

We need to send the meeting invite to users primary outlook (not SharePoint Calendar in outlook) from SharePoint list or calendar. Need to send bulk invite like 1000 or so. I am thinking to write a script that will enter the data in SharePoint list and have a workflow to send the outlook invite to the required users.

Now we have to sync from outlook to SharePoint means if user rejects the invite in outlook it should also be updated in SharePoint list/calendar. So as he rejected the invite so user can go to SharePoint and book a invite from available slots (assuming we are having list in which we have column available (yes/no).

How to do this 2 way communication .

    Thanks a lot

  • Hi Vivek- I can't think of a way where that would be possible.

  • Hi,

There is no OOB way to achieve your requirement.

It won't be an easy job to make all these things working together, therefore, a fact you might want to take into consideration is that more time and effort would be required.

In your custom solution, you need: Get meeting information from SharePoint list > Send meeting information to users > Retrieve meeting responses from users in Outlook > Update the responses in SharePoint list.

From SharePoint side, here is a demo about how to get/update list items programmatically:

About how to retrieve meeting responses, I suggest you post your requirement to Outlook forum, which will give you most qualified pool of respondents.
