Sequence of execution of Jobs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Had a query as to how the sequence of execution of Jobs happen in Azure Batch.

If I have a batch .. and I have created 3 Jobs (v.i.z. Job1, Job2 and Job3) in that batch for the same Pool having the same Priority. Wanted to know will the Jobs be executed sequentially (Job1.. then Job2 .. and finally Job3)? Or does the execution happen in parallel?

    Regards,

    Saurabh

  • Hi Matt,

Thank you for the reply. And what will happen in case the Priorities are different? Will it be sequential based on the Priority set?

  • Priority means that when there is a free node, the scheduler will first try to schedule tasks from the highest priority job.

There are some cases where a high priority job exists but has no tasks in it (for example, you add tasks dynamically to the job throughout the lifetime of the job) - in that case the scheduler moves on to the next highest priority job (and so on down the list of jobs on that pool).

    Hope that helps
