Add stricter moderation to user reviews RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We've all been there. We do our best to make the best apps, and yet, inevitably, at some point, someone will give you a 1 star review with a very insightful comment such as "shit" or "it doesn't work". While some people do this out of pure spite, others will have their best intention behind the 1 star review, and actually tell us what went wrong so we can fix the issues.

The kind of meaningless 1 star review hurts everybody: it hurts the app developers. it hurts the platform as a whole (nothing is worse advertising than a store filled with negative reviews) and it also hurts the reviewers.

I suggest some more strict moderation.

First of all, no swear words should be allowed in reviews. The review is called a review for a reason, not to discharge your daily frustration.

Any reviews other than 5 stars should have a detailed description of what went wrong. Can't describe it with your own words? well then too bad, maybe someone will be able to, no need for your spiteful comments! This can be enforced through a minimum of 20 words requirement.

Reviewers who constantly rate 1 and submit reviews with swear words should be banned after a while, or their review simply not show up there anymore.

I know none of the competing stores have anything like this, but seriously, we need to drive a change.
