"Master" app.xaml

    Question

  • The various project and item templates spit out huge Resource blocks.  The set of things within these blocks is different between the various templates.  If I use a project template and then use an item template, I have to go through tedious process to figure out which things from the item resources should be moved into the app resources and which things from the item resources are already covered by the app resources.  If nothing else, please update the project templates to spit out something that is the superset of what all item templates contain so that I can safely delete all of the item resources.

  • We are aware of this and looking at ways to address this.  The styles existing in item templates causes some complications as we can't know whether you started from a blank one, removed styles or they exist.  But we are aware of this concern.

  • Hi Robert,

you probably know what I am going to say from the other posts :-) Could you submit this suggestion via the connect site

    http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio

The developer division product group has asked us to get developers to report ideas and bugs via that site so they can status and other people can vote on the idea or bug.

    much appreciated,

  • For this one, it would be a nice interim solution if you could provide an app.xaml that is the union of what all the templates have.

  • Hi Robert - using the Grid/Split template would yield an App.xaml that would bring in most of the styles used in the individual item templates.
