Office Compatibility pack 2007 on WIndows 2008 R2 64bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I would like to install Office 2007 Compatibility Pack on Windows 2008 R2 64bit Server.

    1. I've found there's only 32bit version, should It work okay on the 64bit server?

    2. Are there any known issues, slowdowns, interfering with system files, or any other considerations?

  • Hello All,

There isnt any issue while installing it but pptx files for both 2007 as well as 2010 will not open even after you install the SP2 for this comapatibility pack.

I some how managed word and excel to work by changing the compatibility mode of conv.exe files in office 12 folder to windows server 2003 sp1 or for a matter of fact any version with which this worked. Running the converter files in compatibility mode itself means that the Comaptibility pack found at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3 is not compatible for this operating system.

Probably we have to wait for microsoft to come up with a new compatibility pack for win server 2008 R2.
