how to get Windows Store app display name RRS feed

  • Question

  • I work on a .NET profiler (ICorProfilerCallback) and I want to add support for profiling Windows Store apps written in C#/VB.NET. I am using Windows.Management.Deployment.PackageManager to get the list of all packages. However, so far I haven't found a simple and reliable way to get the app display name.

One option is using Package.InstalledLocation property to load AppxManifest.xml and then parse it for DisplayName element. The problem with this approach is that it is possible that DisplayName value is a resource uri (like ms-resource:///...) and the actual value is stored in resources.pri file.

Is there an API that I could use to get the app display name instead of loading and parsing resource.pri file? Are there any other alternatives?

    TIA,

    Mihail
