How to use Chart control to draw line graph in vb 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I want to write a program which draw a GDP trend graph in VB.

About the data, i have got not only yearly, but also monthly in every year.

So e.g from 2000 to 2010, there will be 10 yearly data, and 12*10 data

I have tried a simple way by using excel--use vb to open excel file which contain data and select the beginning and end year

then draw it in excel and save it then input to the form.

But i think it is inefficient, so i look up if there are any better way.

I found that there is Chart control which i think it might be more efficient. so i install .net 3.5 framework

But i don't know the code to get data and draw a line graph. Meanwhile i am not sure the which data source i should use: excel or Access

When i look up the internet, there are many information about MSChart but very long time ago.

but some codes have been changed.

I hope someone can advise me which one in my case is better? excel or access ?

And post some basic code for using chart control to get data and draw a line graph.

    I would be very appreciate.

    Thank you!
