List Item version using listdata.svc RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    Is there a way to get the versions of the list item using any of the services in SharePoint 2010 or by using Client Scripts?

    Thanks Deepak S

    This would allow you to call the GetVersions() web method for the file of your choice.

  • Thank you Jamie,

    But i like to know the possibilities in .svc or by EMCA scripts. For some reasons we are not supposed to use .asmx web service and no custom coding.

    please advice.

    Thanks Deepak S

  • Hi,

    See this blog to get item version using ECMA:

    var VersionInfo  = currentItem.get_item(“_UIVersionString”);

    Hope it could help

  • Hi Hemendra,

    It just alerts me an version number, not the actual data.

  • Hi Deepak,

    I tired to get version file from both Client Object Model and the SharePoint web service weeks ago. But seems there is not an out of box(OOB) method to do so in these two objects.

    We may need a customized web service by invoking the server object model to get version file, and from client code, invoke the customized web service to accomplish the goal.
