  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a question. Do windows Operating system (any version) have the built in drivers for Ethernet to USB adaptor or do we need to install the drivers? Expecting reply. Thank you.

  • Windows ships with a USB/Ethernet driver for hardware that implements the RNDIS standard. Some versions of Windows may ship with additional 3rd party drivers - because this can be customized by the OEM, the coverage will vary across machines.

Of course, there are plenty of 3rd party USB/Ethernet drivers on Windows Update.  You can search for them using the consumer-facing portal here or the administrator-facing portal here.

  • AFAIK there is no standard for Ethernet to USB devices so you can expect have to install the driver.
