Storing data in the Registry RRS feed

  • Question

  • I working on an add-in for Outlook, when the send button is clicked a popup form opens.  Many of the settings for text boxes and buttons are stored in the registry so that the administrators can push out changes without goes to developers. My question is what are all the parts needed to make this work. For instance, loading keys into memory, how do group policy play into it, are there scripts needed from admin and so on...

    Any tutorials?

  • Hi bthumber,

    According to your description, please correct me if I have any misunderstandings on your question. It seems that you want to read and write some settings with VSTO Outlook Add-in, you could use Settings to store data.

    private void btnRead_Click(object sender, RibbonControlEventArgs e)
    {
        System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(Properties.Settings.Default.Setting);
    }

    private void btnWrite_Click(object sender, RibbonControlEventArgs e)
    {
        Properties.Settings.Default.Setting = "Hello word";
        Properties.Settings.Default.Save();
    }
