EWS issue: SentToChangeAndSaveCopy parameter in Appointment.Update method does not work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to restrict the notification sent out to all the attendees(inclusive of external) when i remove any attendee using EWS. I want only the deleted attendee to receive the cancellation notification.

Going through EWS docs it says it is possible when updating meeting with

     'SendInvitationsOrCancellationsMode' set to 'SendToChangedAndSaveCopy' .

But this is not working as expected. Notification is still being sent out. I have tried this with various ConflictResolutionMode combinations, but still the issue persists.

Can anyone help me with this. Any viable workarounds are also welcome  :)

Here is related to the support article

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2873493

where it is mentioned as an expected behavior for EWS and thus contradicting the EWS docs.

  • Assuming you are using UpdateItem operation, you can try to use 'SendOnlyToChanged', but I suspect this will do same thing
    Check this page. https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/aa580254(v=exchg.150).aspx
The difference of these two options' description are:
    1. SendOnlyToChanged - the meeting update is sent only to attendees that are affected by the change in the meeting.
    2. SendToChangedAndSaveCopy - the meeting update is sent to all attendees that are affected by the change in the meeting

I am so curious how Exchange justify the 'attendees that are affected by the change in the meeting', it can be say that as we remove an attendee all other attendees are affected.
