SOA Approach RRS feed

All I have heard about SOA so far has been related to simple methods, like credit verification, zip code checking and such. Well I do see a great potential in SOA, specially with situations in which you have the so-called pipeline, where you line up service after service, buiding a final solution. Well, in such a complex situation I see some problems, one of them is returning large datasets from a web service. Does anyone have a real case to share here? I wonder if a webservice encapsulating a method that returns 2000 records (with 15 fields each) would perform reasonably, how this could be "pipelined" etc...

Please I need opinions, advices, actual stories etc

    Thanks to all interested...
