Multiple Datasets using Same Data Source? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here's the scenario:

    • Using 2005
    • 3 stored procs in a database
    • MUST use the procs for the report
    • CANNOT alter the stored procs
    • CANNOT combine the stored procs
    • CANNOT use subreports

That said, I need to be able to create multiple datasets for this report, based on the 3 stored procs.  Apparently, however, SSRS wants you to use differnt datasources for each proc.  I tried using a wrapper, which executed perfectly in SQL, but SSRS will still only display the first set of data.  Are there any known ways to work around this?

    TIA.

  • Multiple datasets (and thus SPs) can use the same datasource, not quite sure what the problem is there. Do you have the datasource as a shared datasource rather than embedded into the report?

    Failing that...

You could always do some dynamic SQL in the data tab to combine the data. Nasty, but it would probably work.

  • hmmm, look like you have hardly any choice.

do you want to join data returned from these sp's or you just want to show it on report. if this is the case then you can multiple table on report and attached each dataset to the table.
