InfoPath Data Conenctions (REST/SOAP/XML) Limitations and Resources RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a REST connection to an Excel file and it crapped out on me when I tried to go above 500 items. Mind you, this was just setting up the connection (not displaying anything).

What are the limits? Shouldn't I be able to set up a REST connection even if 12,000 items are contained in the data?

Is there a resource (book, article) that I can refere to for building REST connections/SOAP connections and limiting the data as it comes in?

  • frankly, *browsers* start to have problems when you've got that much data at once... for example, configure a large list to show 5k items on a single page... the server will process the request in under 10 seconds... the BROWSER will take MINUTES and will be choking under the load of JavaScript and rendering a complicated DOM.
