MS Access testing environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need test and tune up my application before I forward it to the customer.

Does exists some environment, where I choose operating system and version of MS Office and upload my MS Access application and test it?

  • Microsoft Azure offers virtual machines that can be spun up quickly. They have many images with preloaded software. You can also save your own images, but you'll have to make them first.

  • Hi,

I have not tried Azure, but I use VirtualBox and create my own VMs on the same computer I develop my databases. So, if I want to test it on a different version, I just fire up VirtualBox and launch the VM with the Access version I want to test.

    Just my 2 cents...

  • This is when you need to build your own development environment(s).  Typically this is done by using Virtual Machines (VMs) that you setup to match your client's environment(s) and perform your development and testing.

To build these VMs, you'll need to purchase valid Windows and Office/Access licenses.

Another option, with some clients, is that they might be willing to give you access remotely (using RDP, Teamviewer) to a computer to do testing on.
