Howto make Web Service IPv6 "aware" when used over DirectAccess VPN? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a bunch of WebServices installed in IIS that are being used over the network from Windows Forms clients in Client-Server manner. This is working fine until users enable DirectAccess (DA) VPN -connections and try to use the webservices remotely.

The problem seems to be that DA uses IPv6 addresses to connect and this affecting the clients that are trying to connect to the server using IPv4 addresses.

What should I change to make my webservices (and possibly clients) IPv6 aware?
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, please direct me elsewhere..)

  • Are you using the legacy ASMX web services, or WCF? I don't know whether ASMX supports IPv6 or not.

WCF is Web Services. They are not two separate things.
Use WCF for All New Web Service Development, instead of legacy ASMX or obsolete WSE
Use File->New Project to create Web Service Projects
