Screen Tips or mouseover in IE compared with other browsers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having difficulity with one of my pages (http://www.bicyclegermany.com/tours.html) displaying ScreenTips when a reader mouses over one of the Polygonal hot spots on an image. They display most of the time in IE (various) but never in Opra, Firefox, Safire, or Crome. I tried using the mouseover="" command instead of the alt="" command but that did not solve the problem. I suspect there is an easy fix but I sure do not know it.

I have all of the above browers, and I am using IE8 with Windows XP and EW 4.

  • Try using the "title" attribute for this.

  • "alt" is not a screen tip.  Some browsers/versions treated it as if it were,  but they are not supposed to.  Use "title" to get that effect.
