Why do dispatcher issue a new Windows I/O request for the down device object? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Why do dispatcher issue a new Windows I/O request for the Down device object, so the Down device object receives a different IRP from the IRP that the application originally sent?

What is different into this new IRP and why do require?

  • What stack? What dispatcher? The Io manager sends an irp to the top of the stack and the typical behavior is to complete it at that level, send it down the stack, or allocate a new request and send it to another stack. The driver that processes the incoming irp decides what to do, not a generic dispatcher
