Azure VMs with SharePoint 2013 and Office Web Apps 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have created two Azure VMs to do a proof of concept with SharePoint, Office Web Apps 2013 (WAC) and our custom ASP.NET MVC application.

The farm includes one server running SharePoint 2013, SQL Server 2012 and Active Directory.  The second server is running Office Web Apps 2013.

We have successfully configured SharePoint and WAC over HTTP, but we are having problems when we configure using HTTPS.  We are using Google as our authentication mechanism and we are using Azure Active Directory to configure Google as an Identity Provider. We can go to a SharePoint site through HTTPS and authenticate with our Google credentials which works, but we have problems when we try to open any documents through Office Web Apps. When we use HTTP and our domain credentials, the document opens without an errors and saves back without a problem.

Is there some sort of configuration that needs to be done between SharePoint and WAC to trust the requests when we are authenticating with Google?

Any help with this problem would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Stratus Solutions,

This is a very complex scenario that would be best answered within a Microsoft support incident. This forum is geared specifically toward Azure Virtual Machines, and, if you choose to go down the forum path for resolution to this issue, it would be best to re-post this query in a SharePoint-specific or Office Web Apps-specific forum.

    Thank you,
