Fatal Execution Engine Error (720679AE) (80131506) RRS feed

  • Question

  • There is not much I can add to the question title.

I've had a service running for a long time without any problem.

We recently made a change to rely more on system Threads instead of ThreadPool threads (which may or may not be related) and now the application sometimes (like 1 to 3 times a day) crashes and we get this error in the event viewer:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3615 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (720679AE) (80131506)

We didn't manage to reproduce the situation easily, it seems more or less random.

    Any help is much appreciated.

  • This is a generic error and could be very hard to debug.

What did you do prior to crash? I assume you have been logging what your app is doing?
