  • Hello Mahmood,

you may download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool from the link below, you will also find the detailed instructions on installing the tool and creating a bootable USB from a image(iso) file. It applies to Windows Developer Preview just as well.

  • Hi Mahmood,

lets try again, format the USB into NTFS file system- right-click your USB-Format-File Systems-NTFS-OK.

If that doesn't work, you may try again using a different USB of the required volume. Then wait for more replies that help you.

  • dear irfan, i am asking about usb hard disks drive not a flash disks/usb.

i have 1 TB capacity of external usb HD and created an active partition of 8GB .

Now i want to make it bootable.

  • I think you won't be able to boot from a USB hard drive because of late USB driver init. Or am I telling nonsense? At least you can try

bootsec /nt60 X:\ where X: is the logical drive letter for your USB external drive and then hit F2 or whatever you have in your BIOS and choose to boot from this device.

But please make sure to use 64-bit bootsec for 64-bit flavor of Windows Developer Preview.

Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...
