To install on Win 10, you must use an EV cert, and you must submit the driver for attestation through the dashboard portal.  If you've looked at the dashboard site, you may have seen the driver submission link.  You create a CAB file with your driver package, and sign the CAB with the same certificate used to create your dashboard account.

Several hours later, you will get back a CAT file, signed by Microsoft, keyed for Win 10 only.  There is no cost for the attestation process.

Please note that the driver package will not install on anything before Win 10, and the driver signature will not be recognized by 64-bit systems before Win 7.  Thus, you may need several driver packages to support several operating systems.

  • Revisiting this old post.  Why does my Jan 2016 signed kernel driver, signed with an EV cert that was delivered in November 2015, work on Windows 10 as well as Server 2016 TP4.  The driver did not go through attestation (Windows 10 requirement) nor is it HLK certified (Server 2016 requirement).
