Skeleton Tracking with Kinect SDK 1.7 or OpenNi RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a school project to do and I need help very quickly. I am going to do this project http://workshop.alea.net/8/quick-and-cheap-robot-kinect and I am going to enter the programming part which I have absolutely no experience doing. First I have to do the Skeleton Tracking which I am having dificulties doing because I dont know where to start. I have a Kinect for Xbox and which SDK would you recommend me to use for this project, the Kinect for Windows SDK 1.7 or the OpenNi SDK? If it is the OpenNi how can I install it and work with it? Do you have any links for tutorials for beginners for Skeleton Tracking on the Kinect SDK 1.7 or the OpenNi? Thank you for your attention

  • On the project site says : "A Kinect SDK to get data from the Kinect; OpenNI is fine, but you should use the official Microsoft SDK" , if you install the Windows Kinect SDk 1.7 , you will get an example how to get the information from the skeleton: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh973085 , I think you will use c++ for this project. And if you want to you use OpenNI , you have to install NiTE2 too, which is the library that get the information from the skeleton: http://www.openni.org/files/nite/#.UVjvSFG8GSo .

You can install both ,the windows and openni drivers on your computer and try both, if you want.
