problem with iis mapping http://../FAQ to http://../FAQ.aspx RRS feed

    I have two problems.

    1.  As in subject, I want to map a name without an extension to a name with extension such as FAQ to FAQ.aspx.  I'm using the web.config (urlmapping) and it works with Cassinni but not IIS.

    2.  I'd like to have just one jpg http://../ad1a.jpg that maps to my custom handler and all other jpg's handled by the default iis processor.  Again, using UrlMapping, it works with Cassinni but not IIS.

Thanks for any thougths on this.

    Thoughts are:

    1) cassinni simply does NOT behave like IIS.  This renders it completely useless (IMHO) in a development environment as you may be misled as to the true behavior of your application.  because of this, i only develope against IIS and never use cassinni.

    2)  cassinni seem to cause ALL files served to get routed through the aspnet_isapi.dll which not the default behavior of IIS.

with regards to question 1: FAQ has no extension - by default - it is not handled by asp.net
with regards to question 2: JPG extension - by default - it is not handled by asp.net
