Text in SilverLight 4 is still blurry RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just created a simple silverlight 4 app and the text seems having anti-aliasing enabled, even ClearType is disabled on my Windows 7.

The WPF 4 has an option to turn cleartype/anti-aliasing off,TextOptions.TextFormattingMode="Display"

However, this option seems not supported in Silverlight4. Anyway to disable cleartype/anti-aliasing in Silverlight? Thank you very much.

  • I'd like to bump this post and posts like it, I saw Boxee (a flash app) and its fonts are gorgeous, I could have never written that app in silverlight. Will there be an effort in SL5 to make text look good?

  • Exactly! I am not even looking for a fancy font, just something looks sharp and clear. It is shame not to fix it on first priority considering Silverlight is already version 4.

  • Guess we've got to wait for SL5 and pray.

We now switching our APP from SL to WPF, where is blurry text is solved.

Hope Silverlight 5 or idealy 4.1 will get it soon.

Global switch would be nice, not like in WPF setting text clarity settings on every UserContol!!

  • Good news: SL5 RC fixed the problem with a new option like WPF 4.
