Are POIs in Japan are supported Query API of Bing Spatial Data Services? RRS feed

  • The Bing Spatial Data Services only has POI data for NA and EU. Use the Search module or library in the Bing Maps V7 control or the Windows 8 SDK to get global POI data.

  • The geocoding method is meant for turning addresses into coordinates. You want to use the search method for finding point's of interest: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh868062.aspx

  • Thanks for your answer!

I tried to use Map.SearchManager's GeocodeAsync API, providing it GeocodeRequestOptions that contain word "station" (or "駅" in Japanese) as a queryString, but no results were returned. The API worked okay for me once I've provided the full name of the station ("飯田橋駅"), which is nice, but it's not enough for me. Is there a way to search in POI-style - looking for banks, or shops or parks using the SearchManager?
