Exclude Lists from Search Results

Question

Greetings,

I have creted a search scope to allow a specific site users to search the content of the site only. Not the entire site collection.
I also creted a custom search results page using "search core results" web part.

When users enter a keyword to search by, they see some site lists as part of the search results. I need to exclude such list from the search results. I was told that it may be done by editing the core results web part's XSL.

I don't have access to add crwal rules since this is a custom scope.

Do you want to exclude the content as well or only list and library names with icons/links to lists or libraries?

If you want to exclude a list from search results, you can configure the list not to include in search results.

To exclude all the items in the document library or list from appearing in to search results:

1. Navigate to the List
2. Go to list Settings
3. Then go to advanced settings of the list and check the option to remove from search results at the bottom. i.e. Allow items from this list to appear in search results? to NO.

This will stop the search from hitting that specific list or document library.

I want to show individual items from the list but exclude the list itself from appearing in the search results.

As a matter of fact. I know the specific lists to exclude.
