Lack of rvalue references in PPL RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've seen that, for example, you can't move a concurrent_queue, or move an element into a concurrent_queue. You can't move an element in asend. Is this a fundamental restriction, or just unimplemented functionality?

  • Hi DeadMG,

According to your description, it seems that this thread is about concurrent_queue in Parallel Patterns Library.

Based on my knowledge, The concurrent_queue class is a sequence container class that allows first-in, first-out access to its elements. It enables a limited set of concurrency-safe operations, such as push and try_pop, to name a few. It means we cannot  arbitrarily add and modify and we also need to follow the principle of first-in. first-out(FIFO). So this behavior is by design.

In addition, you have any good idea or suggestion, you can send them to connect.microsoft.com. We’ll be glad to receive your suggestion. Thanks of your understanding.
