Sharepoint form-Filtering down the options RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Assume that I have a form containing three drop-down columns as below:

""I could not add any figures. If you google the title of this post, you will find the same thing posted in answers<dot>microsoft<dot>com""

Each color is assigned to the related things. As an example, "Unit D" has 5 buildings (building 8 to 12) and 9 containers (container 15 to 23).

I want a form in SharePoint to filter down the options.

    Example:

When I choose "Unit D" from column Unit, it should only show me "building 8 to 12" for the column "Building" and container 15 to 23 for the column "Container"

I have no experience in coding with share-point! I appreciate if anyone could help.

    Thanks,

    Pouyan

  • Hi, Pouyan,

According to your description and post, it seems Cascading Drop Down list is what you are seeking. The options in drop down in the form will change based on your selection. Here are two examples with videos, have a check on them.

  • @Jerry,

    Thanks for the reply!

I followed all the steps (by both videos) and could not get it done!

I think part of the problem is because of the IT security of my company which may block the links under Web Part of the sharepoint!

I can open the provided links by the second video using a "google chrome" but not using "internet explorer."

Is there any way that I can do it without coding or avoid importing links to the Web Part?

    Any help is appreciated,

    Pouyan

  • Hi, Pouyan,

If the IT security in your company does not allow to your use custom script in a page. you will need some help of other software to do this without code work. PowerApps and InfoPath will be your options.

    Tutorial for PowerApps:
