FTPS data Channel issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I having a problem with setting up a IIS FTPS on a server 2012 R2. we have the same setting for a server 2008 R2 and working correctly for past 5 years. When try server 2012 R2 it loos like that the data channel that we have had set in IIS keep on changing and that is why our Firewall blocking them.

I have set the channel port between 5000-5600 on IIS manager-FTP Firewall Support and add the IP address of the firewall at the same place.

Also Opened the 5000-5600 on our firewall. Now some times we can access the FTP site and sometimes not. when we cannot access the FTP site I can see that FTP client side coming with a random port and on firewall side ports being used that are or higher or lower then 5000-5600

We have the same setting for a server 2008 R2 and no problem there!!!

Any idea why FTPS using different port?

  • Problem is resolved.

it looks like that MS forgot to let us know that after setting the channel ports the FTP services must be restarted, not from the IIS manager but from the Windows services.
