Connect MS Surface to Development Computer

Question
-
How do you connect a Microsoft Surface to a development computer?
I would like to be able to select download app to device in VS 2012 to run my app while testing. Is there a specific cable to use ( i.e. USB, mini-HDMI )? If so, could you describe and/or send a link on where to purchase?
Thanks in advance.

You connect remotely over standard networks. See Running Windows Store apps on a remote machine .
