How do I export my spaces blog?

Answers

  • It is possible to export Windows Live Spaces blogs.  What you do with it after that is another question; I wanted to export mine (to my computer), edit it, and move it back onto spaces, but I'm pretty sure I can't put it back there.

But it sounds like you want to do something with the site after you've exported it, and that, it seems to me, can be done--put it on another site, for example.

How I exported it (or rather imported it/downloaded it into my computer):
I used FrontPage, pointed it at my spaces site, and had it fetch everything.

I design websites for nonprofit organizations so I've been downloading the ones I work on, then (using the login/password for the account}, replacing pages with the ones I modify.  The key here is having the credentials to put the pages back onto the server.  If anyone knows how to gain ftp or some other access to spaces, I'd love to know.

  • Unfortunately at the moment spaces blog not supports this operation and I wasn't able to found any tool to do this operation.

Update: 11.01.2009: I found 3rd party solution: http://b2.broom9.com/?page_id=519. It was working in my case: http://stilger.eu/2009/01/11/jak-przeniesc-blog-z-live-spaces-na-inna-platforme-blogowa/

  • Hi Karol!

Do you know if it is possible to simple move a spaces blog from one Microsoft Space to another Microsoft space? I'm trying to change my email and messenger etc, and my blog has been set up through the old email account.

    Thanks for your help!
