  • Question

  • We are developing a desktop application.  This is a critical application and does needs Auditing of the actions done by user.  It would be highly appreciable if someone can suggest on how to achieve this diligently with less effort.

We are using CAB smart client architecture for UI.

bala take a look of the logging application block in the Enterprise Library. It's a decoupled, back-end agnostic logging mechanism that I believe will server for your auditing purposes

  • Take a look at Aspect Orientated Programming (AOP), by implementing using .net attributes on your methods you can track pretty much everything if you can afford the performance hit.

An alternative would be to use the profiling APIs but IMO I'd try AOP first as there are too many cavaets to using the profiler API.
