RPi3 Win IoT Compatible Touchscreen

Question
-
Is there a list of touchscreens that work with Windows IoT on Rpi3? I looked on the supported hardware list and all I saw was the Chalkboard Electronics 7" LCD Display. I was hoping there were more options since I am unable to find that one.Thursday, January 19, 2017 3:56 PM

Hi Thrasher,
I have merged these threads on your behalf. As for screen compatibility, any true HDMI & HID screen will work with IoT Core. The screens that fail do not complete the HID cycle fully and that is why we recommend checking with the manufacturer. We reached out directly to Chalk_Elec and Waveshare based on this thread https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5a7d56df-cbc6-45e5-ad37-5ef97859b234/waveshare-7-inch-display-doesnt-work-on-windows-10-iot-core?forum=WindowsIoT .
At the time, ChalkElec ensured their firmware to met HID Spec but Waveshare did not. However another poster, pysco68, took the initiative and created a GITHUB Project to fix the Waveshare firmware as their screens are quite inexpensive so if you have the ability to reflash boards. It is referenced in the link in the previous paragraph.
As you can see from that thread, tracking which hardware works and which do not it pretty impossible so we do offer a list of the few that we do use for testing at Microsoft but recommend that you reach out to the OEM for disclosures for their specific devices.
Sincerely,
IoTGirl

Hi wgdvs,
There are quite a few existing discussions on touchscreens. I suggest you review existing posts before you purchase a screen.
BTW, Chalk Elec can be found here: https://www.chalk-elec.com/ and you can reach out to them directly for which screens are supported on IoT Core.
Sincerely,

I haven't spent much time with raspberry-pis, but I am looking to purchase a cap touch display to start creating a universal windows apps.
It has been difficult to find a solid answer as to which touch displays work with windows 10 (many answers on this forum are over 1 year old).
Can someone direct me to a solution that works with Raspberry Pi, Windows 10 IoT?
(I currently own a pi2 Model B V1.1 / I am willing to purchase another pi-3 if necessary.
Thanks in advance :)

i think your question will be merged with this one https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f4933ebd-6d19-4629-9aa2-75d6bf753203/rpi3-win-iot-compatible-touchscreen?forum=WindowsIoT

So Microsoft IoT doesn't keep a list of supported equipment at this time?
I think this could be a huge help if Microsoft partnered with 1 company to guarantee compatibility in the future.
I'm not interested in finding a cost effective solution at this point. I just want a plug and play solution. i will reach out the Chalk Elec though. Thanks for the info!

I found the same one for $130 on their website. Looks like we're trying to find the same thing. I just posted today ( https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7a76d3d1-a952-4bce-9a0c-4a76acb8accf/recommendations-cap-touch-screen-for-windows-iot?forum=WindowsIoT#7a76d3d1-a952-4bce-9a0c-4a76acb8accf )
Let me know if you have any luck outside this forum!
Thanks

Awesome! Thanks for the information.
I did just find the hardware compatibility list. That confirms what you've stated above about the chalk-elec (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/docs/hardwarecompatlist).
