Platform Builder 6 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had Platform Builder 6 installed under Windows 7 x64.  Everything was working fine until I installed the Windows Embedded 7 Compact tools.  Now when I try to open VS2005 and a Platform Builder 6 project, I get this error "Could not load type 'Microsoft.PlatformBuilder.Automation.OSDesignProject2' from assembly "Microsoft.PlatformBuilder.Automation.6.00, Version=,Culture=neutral,PlublicKeyTocken=31bf3856ad365e35'.".

I know that installing a beta tool is not a good idea, but it is too late for that.  Is there anything I can do to get the component above to re-register without having to reinstall the entire platform builder?

  • You can reinstall the "tools only" part of PB 6.0.

  • Installing two versions of Platform Builder on the same box is the root problem. Side By Side installation of PB 6 and 7 is not supported.

Before trying to reinstall the PB 6 tools - I'd complete uninstall the CE 7 toolkit

  • It seems I am stuck now.  I tried uninstalling the CE7 toolkit and it failed during the uninstall.  I then completely uninstalled and reinstalled PB6 and I still get the error.  Are there any other steps I can take?  I really don't want to have to reinstall my whole system.

  • Try uninstall VS2008 and reinstall VS2005
