Error: One or more categories of approval could not be loaded when user wants to approve RRS feed

  • Question

  • Two of my PM's are getting the error shown in the title of this post  (Error: One or more categories of approval could not be loaded when user wants to approve).    The "Related Topic" issues a work around of using the rules to "automatically approve the offending items".   This did not work for us.   Has anyone else experienced this issue?

  • HI Randy,

Can you please outline more details. What does the user do, what is the expected behaviour and also can you check if you get any queue or ULS error messages.

That will allow us to help determine the issue and possible resolution.

  • Hi Marc -  Per ytour request:

    The PM does the following:

    1. Access PWA Home page and review messages

    2. Clicks on “You have 1 timesheet from resources pending your approval” message

    3. Approval Center Page loaded with “Error: One or more categories of approval could not be loaded” and “There are no new approvals to review at this time. If you have published your plan and still do not see approvals, have your resources submit updates from “Tasks” of “Timesheet”” messages.

We've made certain the Schedule is published and the timesheet was submitted correctly.

Expected behavior: Timesheet records should be available for review and approval.   Instead, the PM gets the screen below with the error message

  • Hi All,

I have a very similar issue with Timesheet approval. Please advise how this can be resolved.

Or atleast let me know how to find which user's timesheet has been stuck.

    Please advise, its important.

  • Megha,

This is because of configuration for timesheet. which require line apprvoal before timesheet approval.

You need to check with specific users for which you are getting issue.

    Check in the timesheet :

Whether all task have been approved for the resource or not.

If not please approve all the task, then try to approve timehseet.

  • Please delete timesheet and recreate it again for resource then submit  for approval, ask managers to approve the timesshet.

  • Hi Kirtesh,

I was able to identify the Timesheet that was causing the issue by comparing Timesheet Manager's Timesheet Approval History and Submitted Timesheets in Timesheet Lines table in database.

Then I recalled the timesheet of that perticular user, and the issue was resolved. Submitting again the timesheet did not reproduce the issue.

  • We attempted this fix, but it did not work.

  • David,

One of the methods I have used in the past was to run an auto rule to accept updates from resources/projects in a systematic manner, one by one, and see if that resolves the issue. I would agree that there is an inherent risk of accepting erroneous data into the schedule, but i have been able to fix that in the schedule (generally a very high number for work value).

  • This is a known bug - see this thread for the workaround without disabling single entry.
