Editing .aspx files in VS 2008 causing system to lock every 3 or 4 seconds RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am on a quad core with 4 Gig of ram.   Running Vista Ultimate P.O.S.
I have several .aspx files that are a few 100 lines long.  I've noticed that whenever I edit them, the system routinely freezes every 3 or 4 seconds the entire time I am editing them.  When I go to the .cs file, it's fine and no more system freezes then what is customary with Vista.  I switch back to the .aspx file, and the system keeps freezing again.  I can only guess this is because it is tracking changes to use for the intelisense function.  I'm to the point now where I have to edit my .aspx files in Notepad, because VS is too unfriendly.  Is there any way to turn this feature off?

This is so annoying, that 90% of my coding is done in type-ahead mode.  In other words, I type, wait a few seconds, then see what I typed, and hope I didn't make a typeo.  I can't believe this is acceptable to anyone.

  • It's recommend to apply sp1 for VS2008: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/cc533448.aspx

And also disable all the add-ins by running devenv /safemode to see if the problem persists.
