  • Hi Azure Support,

Let's say I have one windows server 2012 r2 on-premise and there is no AD on-premise, and i have applied Azure AD, how can I join Azure AD in on-premise windows server 2012 r2?  Will Azure AD service have some public IP for providing on-premise windows server 2012 r2 to join Azure AD?

  • No, Windows server 2012 r2 won't join Azure AD.

No, Azure AD won't provide you with public IP.

Azure AD isn't like on-premise AD, it's service which provide you some of features like password write back, MFA and so on.

if you want AD like on-premise AD, you will need to create VM on Azure and configure AD on this VM then reserve public IP and get all machine On-premise join it after having VPN tunnel with On-premise.
