VS2015 cannot find PowerShell.exe in Path

  • How does Visual Studio establish its default search path? In VS2015, powershell.exe cannot be located where I do not have this problem with VS2013. This also happens if I try to run it from the Visual Studio command prompts. In VS2013 it is located, but not in VS2015.  I have commands in makefiles and other locations that no longer will run.

Does it not base the path on the default path in the system/user profile?

  • Performing a repair in Programs and Features fixed the problem.  I thought this was properly working originally.  Then I added the Windows XP C++ compile feature and I suspect that caused the change where the powershell utilities were removed from the path.
