Identify service that is writing to the application event log RRS feed

  • Question

  • There is an entry in my application event log with the Source field set to Service1. The event data is "Service started successfully." I've scanned the list of services that are running and didn't find one named Service1. I understand that the .net  System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase class makes this entry by default when a service starts. I'd like to find out which service is responsible. I've searched the registry but found no corresponding entry. I thought I could monitor processes as they write to the event log but don't know whether it's possible. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
