C# VSTO - MS Word Recover error in OpenFile operation RRS feed

  • Question

In our project, we are using .Net for front end (as Editor) to develop UI and populate data in word document.

    Key responsibilities of Editor:

    • Customizing ribbon in word using VSTO technology.
    • Developing word & non-word UI.
    • Interaction with Server (Java) to receive/ send data in form of xml’s via web service calls.
    • Populating the data received from server onto document surface.
    • Handling Include/Exclude functionalities - Say, to remove a particular section from document surface and storing the content in document custom xml part and again retrieving the stored content from custom xml part to display on document surface.

    System Specifications:

    Language: C# 3.0

    VSTO 4.0/ VSTO 2010

    .Net framework 4.0

    Microsoft Visual studio 2010

    Microsoft Word 2010.

    Problem Description:

Id mismatch in xml contents of our existing documents due to which few functionalities like Refresh data, Include/Exclude are not working.

To synchronize those id’s we are following the below approach:

While opening the existing document, we allow the document to surface in word and then, via code, we are closing the document file, correcting the mismatch id’s in xml’s and then reopening the file.

Now, during this file re-open, we are facing an issue that we are getting a Microsoft word recover error.

  • Hi Jay,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

Would you please create a simple project to reproduce your issue then show the snippet to me?

    Have a good day,
