Pixel tracking problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I'm developing an app in which I have implemented tracking of emails (if someone has opened). I do this by putting an image tag with an invisible pixel in the email with the following code:

    <img src="https://myurl.com/track?event=opened" />

    This means that whenever that "picture" loads, my server recognizes that the email has been opened. Here is the problem:

    On my Office developer account (not on my Gmail account) I have noticed that when I send an email with this image tag, it's converted to a new image tag when ran through the email server... So it looks like this:

    <img src="service.svc/s/GetFileAttachment?id=SomeLongID" alt="https://myurl.com/track?event=opened">

    This means that the image URL isn't loaded correctly and I can't track what is going on.

    Other images seem to work fine, even though their source URL is replaced with this new source.

    Please help!

    /Max

  • Hi,

    Where do you insert the image tag? In the body of a mailitem?

    Where do you get the new tag? From the mail in the receiver or the mail in your sent box or it is from a reply for your original mail?
