WCF Exception Shielding RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using Enterprise Library 3.1  (Exception Handling & Logging application blocks). On my WCF Exception Shielding Policy I have a Fault Contract Exception Handler with PropertyMappings matching the exception's {Message} and {Guid} properties to MyCustomFault properties.

However, the {Guid} property maps to the fault property only if I add a wrap handler to the exception handling policy in addition the logging handler. Even as I add this wrap handler the {Guid} that gets assigned is not the same as the one logged as HandlingInstanceId, so I can't give the user some sort of "report number" to help the support team trace the errors reported by users.

Any help on how the get either the LogID that is sent to the Logging database or the correct HandlingInstanceId to the user would be greatly appreciated.
