Run Reporting Services without Installing RS for SQL Server 2000 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

My client has database setup with SQL Server 2000, but they don't install Reporting Services module, which is a separate installation with SQL Server 2000. We plan to deliver the Report using Reporting Services, but not sure how to achive this without installation of Reporting Services in SQL Server 2000. Is there any possible solution for this?

If I develop Reporting Services using Visual Studio 2005, how is it possible that the Reports developed can be deployed to SQL Server 2000 (not 2005)?

  • Your only option for using reports without incorporating SQL Reporting Services is use all reports in the .RDLC format, not .RDL

I recommend you read up on the differences to decide if this will work for you.   With .RDLC type files, you can obtain data from SQL Server 2000 via code, and hand it to the report viewer via code.
