PCM MediaEncodingProfile

    Question

  • Hello,
I need to encode the recordeing audio as PCM. MediaEncodingProfile provides ways to create Wma, M4a, Mp4 and M3 but not PCM. What is the best way to achieve that?

    Thanks,
    Pierre

  • Hi,

I have a similar question. I have only been able to record MP3 and could not find any way to record PCM. Do you have anyway I can record PCM in metrostyle apps.

    Thanks,

  • I know that this is a bit late but the PCM codec is disabled in the Developer preview. I've asked to have this included in future builds.

    I hope this helps,

  • Hi James,

Does Consumer Preview has PCM MediaEncodingProfile?

Or can we use another way to get the raw data from MP3 file ?

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

  • I'm also interested in this (or something similar) - I want to read from the microphone and display the output waveform. I'm writing into a InMemoryRandomAccessStream, and want to write using a lossless format.

Do any of the CreateWma options give a lossless WMA output?

Any update on this answer please? Does the Consumer Preview now support this? And if so, how? Any sample code? Thanks.

  • Dear all,

Consumer preview doesn't support pcm format.

So, we have to find another way to achieve the goal.

    thanks.

  • Hi Dupre. Were you told so by a MS representative? Otherwise, could we have official word on this please? If Consumer Preview doesn't have it, will it become available with next release (presumably RC?)
