General question about "help page" and Metro UI. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

How the Metro apps design should hints for "help" to the user? Are we allowed to create an help page?

If so, should it be accessed from a specific way (ex: through app bar) or is it free to the designer to choice the best option ?

Finally, should the help page be accessible when the app is snapped in? I find it quite hard to fill much informations into a tiny page.

    Thanks.

  • Take a look at the Guidelines for app help.

The standard way to access help is through a Settings Pane item labeled "Help". The Settings Pane is only available for the filled app, not the snapped app, so if you provide access to help that way the user won't be able to request help in snapped view.

  • Hi,

I don't know what the Metro Style Guidelines say, but for global help I would put it into the settings charm. If you want to provide local help (for a page) I would put it into the bottom appbar (on the left).
