Print Map feature in v8 timeframe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Do you know if print map image feature will be implemented soon after code freeze, like in January. Trying to plan either to get around and implement it somehow by popping up map in new window with print button or just wait for your implementation.
Also for drawing tool drawing circle feature is really important in our app- when?

    Thanks,

  • There currently are no plans to create a print map feature that pops the map into another window. There was a feature planned to generate an image from the map, but we have found that there are a lot of caveats to doing this, primarily all images hosted on different domains need to enable CORs which may not be the case in a lot of customer applications. Another issue is infoboxes won't be supported. We still plan to pursue this feature but have delayed it.

That said, if you print your page now the map, it will print out nicely. The navigation bar and buttons will disappear, and infoboxes will likely not be printed, but everything else on the map will.

There are plans to add a circle drawing button to the drawing tools. The current plan is to add this and a few other drawing modes by the end of March. That said, you can easily add a circle drawing function yourself.
