uiAccess: ShellExecute folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • My program runs as standard user and has uiAccess=”true” in the manifest. uiAccess is necessary as it solves many UAC-related problems. However it creates several new problems. One of them:

ShellExecute[Ex] cannot open folders if "Launch folder windows in a separate process" is checked in Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View.

If ShellExecute passes just folder path, then explorer starts and exits immediately.
If ShellExecute passes explorer.exe + command line which is folder path, then OK.
If there is an open folder window, then OK.
If my program runs elevated, or is not uiAccess, then OK.

As a workaround, I could specify explorer.exe + folder path, but it is not so easy because folder path is entered by the user, and it can be whatever – path, class, pidl, file, folder, virtual folder, shortcut, URL, etc.
