HLK Client installation failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I try to install the HLK client on a clean Windows 10 Technical Preview installation and a workgroup environment. During the installation I get an error “failed to add user to a group).

The Log file “Windows Hardware Lab Kit Client_Install.log” shows

CreateUser:  Failed to add user: DTMLLUAdminUser, domain xxx to group: Administrators, domain: yyy with error 0x800708ac.  Attempting to use Active Directory

Do any of you have an idea what could cause the problem?

  • Are you using a non EN-US SKU on the Client system?

  • Hi,

The first version I have downloaded was the DE Version of Windows 10 technical Preview. With this version the installation of the HLK client has failed. Are there any restrictions related to the Windows 10 version installed on the client system?

TillGroos, where did you get the build 10130 of Win10? The Windows Insider homepage provides only the 10074 build.
