Could i access my Oracle Database through other data providers. Its possible through OracleClient and Odbc data providers. Basically what is the difference between these two providers ?

  • OracleClient is more suited to .net whereas Odbc one is in an obsolete technology I'd say. Thus use OracleClient. And yes, you could use other providers if you wish to.

  • Use Oracle's ODP.NET. Microsoft has deprecated their native .NET Provider for Oracle (System.Data.OracleClient). I wouldn't bother with OLEDB (System.Data.OleDb) or ODBC (System.Data.Odbc) which are .NET wrappers for the un-managed drivers.
